Terms of Service
The rules that apply to every booking: what a quote covers, how cancellation works, and where our responsibility begins and ends.
Last updated: August 1, 2026
These terms apply to cleaning services provided by Jack Cleaning Service in South River, New Jersey and surrounding communities, and to your use of this website. Booking a service means you accept them.
1. Quotes and scope
Quotes are given after a walkthrough of the property, either in person or by video. Each quote is accompanied by a written room-by-room scope describing what is included. The scope is the definition of the service — anything not listed on it is not included until it is added in writing.
Quotes are valid for thirty days. If the condition or size of the property differs materially from what was assessed at the walkthrough, we will contact you before starting and agree a revised price rather than proceeding and invoicing more than quoted.
2. Booking, rescheduling and cancellation
- Appointments are confirmed by text or email with a date and a two-hour arrival window.
- Rescheduling or cancelling with at least forty-eight hours' notice is free of charge.
- Cancellation inside forty-eight hours is charged at fifty percent of the visit price, because the time cannot be reassigned.
- If our crew cannot access the property at the agreed time and we are not able to reach you, the visit is treated as a late cancellation.
- Emergencies are handled case by case. Tell us what happened.
3. Recurring service
Recurring residential service continues until you tell us to stop. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Commercial accounts begin with a three-month initial term to allow the scope to be tuned, and then continue month to month with thirty days' written notice from either side.
Prices for recurring service are fixed at the time of the walkthrough. We will only change a recurring price if the scope changes permanently, and we will tell you in writing before any change takes effect.
4. Payment
Residential visits are invoiced after the service unless agreed otherwise. Commercial accounts are invoiced monthly on the terms stated in the scope document. We accept card, bank transfer and cash. Invoices outstanding more than fifteen days may result in scheduled visits being paused until the balance is settled.
5. Access to the property
You are responsible for providing safe and lawful access at the agreed time. Where you give us keys or codes, we hold them under the controls described in our Privacy Policy. Please notify us of any change to a code before the next scheduled visit.
You must tell us in advance about anything affecting safety, including animals that should be secured, security cameras recording inside the property, damaged flooring, unstable fixtures, pest treatments and any known hazardous materials.
6. What is not included
Unless expressly listed in your scope, our service does not include: exterior window cleaning above ground floor level; carpet or upholstery extraction; laundry other than changing bed linen; washing dishes beyond loading a dishwasher; handling pet waste, bodily fluids, needles or biohazards; mould remediation; pest control; moving heavy furniture or appliances; work requiring a ladder above standard household reach; or any task requiring a licensed trade.
7. Our service guarantee
If an item on your written scope was not completed to a reasonable standard, notify us within twenty-four hours of the visit, identifying the room and the issue. We will return and redo that area at no charge. This guarantee is limited to re-performing the work. It does not extend to a refund where the work was performed as scoped, and it does not apply to results limited by the condition of the material itself — for example grout that has lost its seal, etched stone, worn floor finish or caulk requiring replacement.
8. Damage and liability
We carry general liability insurance. If we damage something in your property, tell us as soon as you discover it and no later than forty-eight hours after the visit, so it can be documented and processed. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, for normal wear and tear, for failure of items already loose, worn or improperly installed, or for damage to items you were asked to secure and did not.
Please put away cash, jewellery, documents and irreplaceable items before a visit. We ask crews not to handle them.
To the extent permitted by New Jersey law, our total liability arising from any single visit is limited to the amount paid for that visit, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Your responsibilities
- Pick up personal items from floors and surfaces so the crew can clean rather than tidy.
- Secure pets that may be stressed by strangers or equipment.
- Ensure running water, electricity and adequate lighting are available.
- Tell us in advance about anyone in the household with allergies, asthma or chemical sensitivity.
10. Non-solicitation of staff
We invest in recruiting, screening and training. For the duration of your service and for twelve months afterwards, please do not directly employ or engage a member of our team for cleaning work outside this agreement. If you would like to hire someone from our team, speak to us first.
11. Text messaging
By providing a mobile number you agree we may send service-related text messages about quotes, appointments and arrival times. Message and data rates may apply and frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any service.
12. Website content
The text, layout and images on this website belong to Jack Cleaning Service or are used with permission, and may not be copied or reproduced without written consent. Information on this site is provided for general guidance. Cleaning advice in our articles is general in nature and is not a substitute for professional inspection of your own property.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of Middlesex County, New Jersey. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here on the date of your booking. Material changes affecting recurring clients will be communicated before they take effect.
15. How to contact us about these terms
Questions about any clause above should go to Jack Cleaning Service, South River, NJ 08882, by telephone on (732) 875-6556 or by email at info@jackcleaningservice.com. Contract and scope queries are best sent in writing so we can attach the answer to your file.
Note for the business owner: these terms were drafted for a New Jersey cleaning company and cover the situations that most commonly cause disputes, but they are not legal advice. Have an attorney review them — particularly the liability, guarantee and non-solicitation clauses — before publishing.
Something here unclear?
Call (732) 875-6556 during business hours and ask. We would much rather explain a clause now than argue about it later.
